My first pics of attempted poses. This guy was born 6/4/12. I plan on showing him next month. What do you think? I'm sure I'm not doing the "hold" correctly.

I think your buck it nice :) I think he just needs more time to fill out (He will change by the time perry comes around). He seems to have the potential for a nice crown/head. He looks like he has good strong shoulders and nice depth. Possibly slightly pinched because I see his feet poking out, but he does need to be posed just a tad better. You have his feet past his hip and it needs to be aligned. It also helps when you see them in real life ;) I like that he's very filled in. Would you mind taking a picture of his underside? I press them down gently. I want to see | | and not V. It's usually the first thing I cull for at 4 weeks.

Here's a helpful link to evaluating type and how to pose:

Posing can be a toughy but practice, practice, practice! Eventually, my rabbits just take a few touches and they are in position. A judge didn't know that with my doe and crunched her into this god awful position (granted he did not like mini lops and was barely paying attention to what he was judging).

Is this good enough?

__________ Fri Sep 14, 2012 11:28 pm __________

Looks like he has a "V". :(

He looks slightly pinched, BUT a good rabbit to put him with would be a doe with nice wide, straight legs. Everyone has a different goal in mind. Not every rabbit is perfect. Even one of my herd sires has slightly pinched hindquarters. Thus, I breed him to a nice doe with a big butt. Sometimes the genetics are there, but you just need to bring them out :) I would still show him regardless. There are many other aspects to be looked at when judging the overall rabbit.

I like to look at my pedigrees and find pictures of their parents to get a better idea of what could be hidden. Sometimes a nice brood quality rabbit gives you some stellar offspring when paired with the right counterpart.
