10 year old daughter took her mini rex buck to the fair.. He is about 8 months old. He has nipping but not hard. At fair it was a little stressful not to crazy. He started attacking people. 16 year old daughter went in his cage to fix his food and water dishes and he attacked her viscously. He bit her wrist and left a deep cut then rebite and latched on to her wristband. When I got there he had his teeth clinched onto the band and his eyes closed. He was held by the scruff by daughter. I got a better grip on him and he would not release till daughter flicked his nose. I right away put him in quarantine under the table out of sight and got permission to take home early. Youngest is afraid of him as are everyone else. He has not tried to attack me. Youngest understands we can't keep him as I can not trust him. She understands that I plan to cull him but is upset about the idea of eating him. I would just bury him but I paid $40. For him and want some return. Nice crock pot meal for instance. I have a English Lop buck and his daughter we are considering as meals since they have crappy attitudes. This part of rabbit raising sucks.

I know the feeling ..... had to turn our nicest, most beautiful tri-color Holland Lop into $50 stir fry.
But it was tasty.

That isn't acceptable for a mini rex. Ours are love bugs and extremely gentle, especially with the twins who are almost 3 yrs old.

Is your dd ok? I can understand the kids not wanting to handle him now. Sorry you are having to make a decision about him. Sending some good thoughts.

Daughter is fine the bite was clean and small. She right away cleaned it and squeezed it together then taped with duct tape. It closed up good no sign of infection. The rabbit is not attacking me but it might be my manner or I don't give him a chance. :duel: Daughter 10 asked me to hold him for her to pet as she loves his fur. I told her I could turn him into a nice stuffed animal for her :zombiebun: but she gave me a weird look. I think that means no. I will be butchering him out later this week and I promised her I would not feed him to her. :dinner:

I got my first major bite from a Mini Rex when I started with pets years back. She latched onto my hand and had to be pried of by two people. I still have the scar on the palm of my hand. As the story goes, I "gave her back to G-d".
