8/27 Update
Well, Mama's milk still hasn't come in and the kits are having trouble keeping themselves warm. Just got back from Walmart so I now have everything I need to formula supplement. I really think we'll lose the runt, it's just skin and bones right now. I think I'll end up keeping the skinniest of the popples in the house with me, where it's warmer. The bigger guys can stay out with Mama, though I will supplement everyone today. I'm hoping that Kitty ends up having a small litter so I can foster some kits on her. She looks huge, though, and either way I've got to get these guys to Thurs/Fri which is when Kitty is due. If Mama's milk doesn't come in by tomorrow, which will be day 4, I think I'll breed her once more. If we run into the same problem, then I'll end up culling her. It's one thing if it's a fluke, but I'm wondering if it will be. Anyways, I'm off to go feed some popples!

Well, Mama had her litter sometime very early Sunday morning, right on schedule! 10 popples born with no stillborns. I did find the run on the wire, but was able to get it warmed up and wriggly. So far, everyone has made it through the night, but we're still waiting for Mama's milk to come in completely, I think. Based on the info I have from the woman I purchased her from, the normal litter size for Mama is around 8 or so kits so I'm hoping the litter won't be too much for her. Not sure what colors we have other than definitly some Chestnuts. Mama's a Broken Chestnut Agouti and the sire was my BEW Satin. Was a little shocked to get the brokens! There's a broken in the litter that I'm hoping makes it as it has a mustache and I think that's just too cool. If it's a doe we'll hold onto it, if it's a buck it'll all depend on temperament. Otherwise, to freezer camp they all go when they're big enough.
Lastly, Kitty is due this Thursday and I'm hoping she keeps the schedule since we're scheduled to be moving this week and, ideally, her kits will be born before we move.
