The one lobe is hardened and blotchy. Can anyone tell me what this is, and if the meat is safe to eat?

__________ Sun Sep 29, 2013 9:36 am __________

Hmmm...if nobody really knows, I guess we'd better not eat it. Thanks, all who have viewed it!

I have never seen that before either. :?

Usually the meat is perfectly safe to eat even if the animal has a problem.

There is no rush to discard it... I would bag it up and let it rest in the fridge for a couple of days while you wait for more responses or can do more research on your own.

Check out the Rabbit Care forum- there are a couple of Stickies on disease with pictures of internal organs.

Thanks for your responses! Mamasheepdog, I'll go check out those stickies, thanks. :)

You really do need to give a bit more time for responses, especially on weekends, Honeybun.

Going by the picture you posted, I would toss the liver but eat the meat. Don't feed questionable organs to your pets... Some diseases are transferable. But the meat, well cooked, should be fine.
