I'm new to the forum and browsed trying to see if this question had been asked before I posted, but couldn't find anything. I'm a complete novice when it comes to rabbit genetics. I've had rabbits my entire life, but never bred them myself. I'm wanting to breed Lionheads and was wondering what colors these would possibly produce. The doe being used would be the one on the left (the one on the right is currently 4 months old).

Looks like a chocolate (maybe black?) tortoise and a pair of black false charlie/charlies (same color for both).

With that in mind, your genetics would be:

Buck: aa bb (or B_) C_ D_ ee enen
Mother and daughter: aa B_ C_ D_ E_ Enen (or EnEn)

Therefore, kits would be: aa B_ C_ E_ Enen (or enen, if false charlie). Basically, you're looking at broken blacks, very much like the mother and daughter pair, but maybe with more black spotting. If by any chance that is a choc tort and the mother carries b, you could have chocolates. If the mother carries e, you could have torts. Etc. :) Hope that helps.

Someone else or I would have better luck sorting this if we knew the colors of the rabbits' parents and any kits they've had, for example, but that's your basic idea.

Thanks! :)

I should have posted a front view of the buck as well. He has a white spot on his nose. :)

I think I may give them a try.

Oh, and the does pictured are mother and daughter.

__________ Wed Sep 25, 2013 12:53 am __________

And I should add that the adult doe has a bit of black on the tips of her white hair on her body. Not all of her hair, but enough to notice.

The buck might be a Vienna or a barely broken. -shrugs- If so, it's likely all the kits from the pairing will be white-spotted, at least a bit.

Good luck, anyway, and can't wait to see what colors you do get. If you get anything other than more broken blacks, hit me up and I might be able to help you sort out what the mother and buck have to carry to get said colors, eh?
