I suppose due to their frequent trips outside the cage and bumbling around on the ground, Fluffy's 10-day-old kits appear to have fur mites. They have little white dandruff-like flakes on them. What do you do about popples with mites?

well, probably a bit young to use the strong stuff-- check the stores for miticides that can be used on kittens. Sometimes, the same things are used for lice, as well. Of course, you COULD soak the kits in vegetable oil, and suffocate the mites-- but then, you would have a bunch of oily kits to bathe--

I really can't find a minimum age for rabbits on any medication. Ivermectin is used in kittens as young as 4 weeks and I'd trust that over all the chemical shampoos and powders out there. You could try DE. It is completely inert so nontoxic but you don't want to breathe too much of the powder in. There is also sergeant's natural defense in most chain pet stores which has an herbal version for use on dogs. It's really strong smelling stuff but does not contain anything too toxic beyond clove oil and a couple alcohol based ingredients. http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.j ... lmdn=Brand
We use it on the dogs to repel ticks and mosquitos and were using it on ourselves when the place we lived had such horrible mosquitos you couldn't run from the house door to the chicken coop fast enough to avoid being covered in swollen welts. I occasionally had entire limbs swell up. We didn't want to smell like bug spray all the time though so we used that and made the whole house smell like mint instead.
