These are the kits from Mitka's litter. She is Es with either ej or e and at least one copy of agouti but she looks black. I also believe that she is cchd c. Has produced REW and no chestnuts. Only silver tipped steels and chin. The sire is my lilac standard rex buck. I find it a bit odd that I got no chesnut or steel in this litter all of the Kits with Es or E appear to be chocolate. I'm I right? Or is something else going on?

first one. This one appears to be self (could be steel). Chocolate right?

second one...chocolate magpie? The brindle markings are much lighter than the magpie kit in my other litter. You can just barely see them but they aren't pee lol

third is this chocolate chestnut or steel? I'm leaning toward steel since the belly isn't really white.

fourth kit is non extension but is it a chocolate torted harlequin or is it a regular harlequin? The harlequin markings are really light but they are there if you look really close. In fact, it has to be ej and probably e because of the kits in the other litter. The dam of this litter is the grand dam of the other litter.

There are 10 kits all together in this litter a couple are white and haven't opened their eyes so the jury is still out on what color they will end up. And a couple I'm almost positive are steel so I didn't post those. I do have one kit in the other litter that is starting to show points so, I think these will have to show points as well unless the one in the other litter is a frosty but if it was frosty wouldn't the points have shown up at the same time the harlequin markings showed up in the other litters?

Thanks everyone!

What a beautiful litter!!!!

That's kits a steel alright. I think your color guesses here are as good as anyone's.

Thank you! I'm hoping at least one of the non-extension kits (preferably one of the magpies) is a doe. That way I can start to weed out that pesky Steel gene.

What are you thoughts on the little red kit?

That kit's a steel*

My typing is downright terrible. :(

I can't really see the harli marks in the pic, or more accurately, I'm not 100% sure what is chocolate marking and what is shadow, but it IS a chocolate. :)
Chocolate torted harlequin is probably correct. It looks a lot like my chocolate tort kit.

My question, "Is that chocolate steel gold or silver tipped? "
Since you have chinchilla present in the litter, both are possible.
I'm leaning towards gold, but the lighting is tricky.

You know, you are SO lucky with those colorful mutts.
Do you tan any pelts?

The tiny little shadow on it's back that you see in the pic is the only sign of harlequin on that kit but it has to be harlequin because of the parents.

You know I don't know...I hadn't even thought about it... I'll go give it a good luck over in a few minutes.

It was completely dumb luck on my part. I got them from my neighbor who lives less than a mile from me. They were the closest and easiest to get me started. The fact that they all show up when crossed with a pedigreed buck? :rotfl: I hope one of the little rex does I just bought carries otter. Then I think I'll have a bit of everything

I have several pelts that are in the freezer. They are just fryer pelts and I'm sure they have holes in them since they were the first of anything I've skinned (hubby usually skins stuff) but I figured they would be good to practice. That is one reason I decided to get the Rex rabbits. That fur is just wonderful! I so want to be able to made a teddy bear with rex fur!

__________ Tue May 05, 2015 1:56 pm __________

I have the kit a good looking over...and I'm still not sure. I'm leaning toward chocolate silver tipped steel but that could just be wishful thinking.
