Hey Logan,
it looks and sounds like it is a pretty good deal.
Of course one never knows until the item is in
their hand. I believe that I'd give it a go.
Ottersatin. :eek:ldtimer:

The only downside I saw to it, was it said it was galvanized before weld instead of galvanized after weld (GAW) which is what is recommended for durability.

it would be fine for side and top wire for cages I think, but definitely not for bottoms.

my guess, based on roll size, is that it is a thinner gauged wire, used mostly as a light fencing to keep critters away from things (such as around gardens and what not).

As such, it will do just fine as rabbit cages, but don't expect the cages to last 20 years like you would with other wire.

Cindi, I have. They are outlandishly expensive. Then there's the Lowe's and Home Depot wire which is just awful. We don't have a Tractor Supply or Del's. And I haven't heard very good things about the cages/wire from those places anyways.

Logan,

I think your best bet would be to go to a local show and buy your cages there. Most show catalogs list the vendors that will be attending, and you can even pre-order cages from them. Here is the ARBA site for show listings- just enter your state and you will see the dates and locations of upcoming shows:

Logan, with some of the cage manufacturers, you can even order rolls of wire for pickup at a show local to you as long as they are a vender at that show.

As for the Jackson wire, I have 2 issues with that wire ... the 1"x2" is 14 gauge (heavier is smaller number) whereas the 1/2"x1" (floor wire) is only 16 gauge, and as already mentioned, it is galvanized BEFORE welding which means that the welding process has ablated the galvanizing away from the weld spots and that is where the urine and moisture will start rusting. While this may not be as much a concern with side and top wire, it makes a difference in the floor wire.
