Haley had her first litter on Thursday - a single kit. She had made no nest. The kit died on Saturday. Sunday she was feverishly pulling fur and weaving it into the grass clippings. Late Sunday/early Monday she had 10 kits. 6 are still alive Monday night. We're new to breeding meat rabbits. Please tell me if this is common. Thanks!

It's more common that I would have thought. I've read about it happening several times, just in the last few months. It's more uncommon than common, but it's not completely unusual either.

done judge a doe by her first litter. She doesn't have a clue what she's doing. if the remanding 6 are well taken care of then I wouldn't worry about it and even if she looses this litter just breed her again and maybe she'll get it right the second time.
