Is this a show quality Netherland Dwarf?

Someone has sent me photos of this buck- is it show quality?

Also, they say it is a black fox-- but it looks like Sable Marten to me. What do you think?

It's a sable marten. Never even heard of a black fox color in Nethies. It's really hard to tell much about show quality from the pics as its not posed right in any of them but to me he looks really fine boned and has a very narrow head.

So is it a bad thing that he is fine boned? Are they supposed to have heavier bones.

I agree, no properly posed, fine boned, narrow head and chest, and ears shouldn't be v'd out like that. There is no such thing as black fox nd's.
the body should be short and compact, with deep, wide shoulders. depth and width should balance. Body should be well rounded. The head should be large and bulldoggish. It doesn't seem those people really know what they are talking about. I would keep looking.

Not posed right,ears are a bit long and shouldnt be sticking sideways.dont know if its a junior or senior.if its a baby its head could grow.I would also say sable martin.Fine bone is a bad thing.

You do not want fine bone. Let me see if I can find thi very good article from the nature trail about how to tell nice thick bone compared to fine bone. I would find another rabbit. I dont think this breeder knows much about NDs. I'm in New Zealand, very small country that has banned the import of rabbits so there aren't many show quality Netherland Dwarfs around.
The breeder never claimed it was show quality, he just said it was a very small buck that could be bred because it had a pedigree so I thought maybe it might be show quality, but but the breeder never said it was show quality. Thanks for the feedback.

In NZ, it might actually be commonly referred to as a Black Fox, but what these breeders are telling you is most definitely the truth for the standards here in the states.

And just because a rabbit has a pedigree doesn't necessarily mean that it's suitable for a breeding program.
