Went in to check the rex colony and reached down to stroke Matron only to find she is a rack of bones!
It was an unexpected discovery as she is right in there at feeding time and doesnt seem to be pushed out of the way by the younger does so I thought she was fine.
When we bought her she was supposed to be five years old and she has been with us for almost a year so she is no spring chicken. Do old rabbits get thin even though they are eating alright?
Every body else is nice and rounded so I dont wnat to feed more into the colony so I have taken her out and put her in a cage but its sad to see her in a cage now instead of being groomed by the other rabbits.
A nice bit of salvage - a thrown away heavy plastic workshop shelf unit - sorted a shelf for her to rest on though so at least I dont have to worry about her hocks, they always get so bad on wire.
