A couple days ago, I was out checking over my rabbits and noticed a few fur mites on them. One of the rabbits just kindled on the 23rd, so the babies are brand new. So, is it safe for me to dust their mother? Or will it cause respiratory issues in the kits?

Thanks!

I'm in the minority here, but I don't think it is a big deal. Just don't overdo it.

I have successfully treated fur mites with one application of DE, usually just sprinkling a small amount into my hand and rubbing it into the fur on the head and neck, then running my hand down the rabbit's body. I would estimate that 1/4 teaspoon is more than enough.

We only used the DE once and it cleared up. Does did not have kits. I don't think it would be a problem though.
