Sometimes I feel like I should wear a sign that says, "I'm not a cutter. I have rabbits."

Lol i get looks at work all the time for my cuts from bunnies on my arms lol...i gotta remember to wear my arm guards when doing my registrar's stuff! lol

hahahha! me too!
i have a 4lined scar now from running my arm along the edge of a cage and it looks like i was attacked by something haha.

lol everyone is always like "OMG what happened to your arm?" lol It's funny the looks I get when I tell them that I raise rabbits.

No one wonders about mine, probably because I don't look/act like I do it to myself. The back of my legs are torn up from when I tripped over pens I was stacking. I never bother with covering up or band-aids, air dry heals faster. I'm always really torn up, not just from rabbits, but all sorts of farm work and such.
Another cut on each leg where you can't see and that was just the start of the bruising, I looked like a blueberry bush.

Honestly I was just about to start a topic on this!
I have so many scars that will never go away

I've got so many scratches from young Checkered brats, it's not funny. This last show, I got torn up SO bad helping a friend of mine put up her Tans, then my own Checkereds ripped me to ribbons. I went to SAR practice the next day and explained to everyone ahead of time, "No, your beloved J's girlfriend does not cut herself. I have rabbits, 'member?"

I'm glad they like me, otherwise the rumors would fly, I'm sure!

I'm always scratched up by something too, and my arms are about 10 shades darker than the rest of me... sunscreen? What's that?

It's embarrassing to shake hands with city slickers- even the men have skin like a baby's butt, and I'm more on par with 60 grit sandpaper. I have, in fact, used sandpaper to smooth my hands in the past prior to attending a celebrity-laden fund raiser in hoity-toity Hidden Hills, CA. Other times too, to be honest. Industrial strength manicure, anyone?

I get more cuts and sticks from wire but I've go a couple good ones from my does too in the last couple months. Everyone tells me to start wearing gloves when I work with wire but I like to beable to feel what I'm doing. I only use bandaid if I'm bleeding all over the place.

XD

I gave up on making my hands "lady-like". I told AFVHB the other day how much I wish I had "girl hands" (whatever that means?) and that I feel like a manly-girl. He told me he's happy I have calloused hands, shows I'm not high maintanance, and he feels okay about holding my rough hand with his grease-stained, farm boy hands. We're just two, rough, sand-paper leather people. Maybe we'll have leather babies? :x

I get questions all the time...but I just explain to people the simple joys of rabbits raising xD Lol My Mini Lops get really excited when it comes time to put them either in the exercise pen or in their cage. It just happens. I just got home from buying those sweat bands tennis players wear to try to help lessen the amount of scars I already have. I'd wear gloves....but I wouldn't have a good grip on my rabbits!

I use a pair of mutilated kid evening gloves when handling my rabbits. I cut the fingers off so I have a good grip. You can choose the sleeve length - anything from wrist to elbow. Slightly damaged ones are cheap on eBay or at thrift shops.

I have a kevlar sleeve, but I keep losing it or forgetting to wear it. I have so many scars from so many other gardening/dog/cooking/craft related accidents. I was looking at my hands yesterday, well no one could mistake me a prim and proper lady!

I perfer just longsleeve t-shirts for the bunnies but for wire working gloves I like the thin ones with the rubber palm side and finger tips. They help with all the little cuts and scratches but like I said I don't wear them, just don't feel like spending the money as quick as the get worn or lost.

Before I had rabbits I had an iguana. My scars have scars. My arms and chest are so patchy it's creepy. It's not even that the animals mean to scratch, it's just that (on the iguana) the toes and nails are SOOOOO long! I can't even cover up some of my body while handling the iguana, because if she didn't have a tight enough grip she'd move on to a body part with no cover and really hang on :O

Darker! I wish I could tan! My family is always told that Irish people shouldnt farm! I am rediculously pale and burn so bad to the point where I was told I was allergic to the sun!

My family does farmers markets in Philedelphia PA and the men there look girlier than me quite often, and I'm just a 16 year old girl.

Woe is the life for a farm girls hands

I have the kelvar sleeves... and what a difference they make... when i remember to actually wear them.

At the last show we went to... it got Hot ! ( by NY standards, that is)... so i removed my sweatshirt.... Had the kelvar sleeves on...Certainly made me wish for a Kelvar Bodice as well !!!
