I checked the kits this morning and both the little does (I think) had a hard "thing" stuck to their privates. It was like poo, but mixed with something grayish white?? It was hard and and I pulled it off, but now their little privates are red :( The kits are 20 days old today. They seem totally fine, other than this. What the heck is that?

They are at the age where Mama stops doing all the cleaning work and it is exactly what it looks like.
Try to keep clean if it gets overly bad, otherwise let the little ones figure how to clean themselves.
A little vaseline, or even a warm wet rag helps to remove without irritating the privates.

Wish I had a clue on what was going on. My kits had a bit of cecal stuck on their fur, but nothing that was grayish white and no red "privates". Hoping someone can give you some kind of idea.

As luvabunny said, they are not cleaning themselves well and their poop is getting stuck. Clean it gently and apply some ointment to the irritated areas. They will learn to clean it themselves soon enough.

Thanks so much!! I was worried. I put some vasoline on their little parts so hopefully that helps! You guys rock :)

Update: when checking them this morning, a couple had a litte stuck poo, but nothing big. But one of the does had a little whiteish stuff again. She's acting fine, but what is that? I'm hoping its just vaseline leftovers from yesterday.

What consistency is it? My only ideas are calcium from the urine or some type of infection. Wiping her down with a weak Betadine solution would be a good idea in any case.

Can you put some paper under their cage so you can check the color of their urine and for any other signs?

So glad to hear that all is well with the girls. Saw your "Three Week" thread and what lovely girls you have. The bucks are handsome too! Hope you continue to post about their progress. I've enjoyed reading about them and cheering you on. Know about being nervous. My LH's are now 8 weeks old and I'm still nervous about their progress. So far, "knock on wood", all are healthy and growing just fine.
