I found out that in town we can have chickens. Hardly anyone knows about this. I can have 8 or 12 can't remember  chickens but no rooster. I have them in my coop shed for now till I make them a yard tomarrow. When I got divorced I lost the farm so I took one of my coops ickuptruck: with me and now it will be in use again. My x was real mad at the time but I told him it was mobile so it was mine. I jacked it up and put it on a trailer to haul. I have 6 chickens all together. 1 black sexlink, 1 barred rock, 1 gold sexlink, 1 Delaware, 1 I think is a new hampshire and a brown leghorn. very nice birds. I am already getting a few eggs and I just had them 2 days. I love chickens my kitchen is decorated in chickens. :feedchicken:
I then talked my x into letting me keep some roosters out at the other chicken coop on his property so I got 15 young rooster of various ages to fatten up to eat. I got them for $2. each which is a good price. Some I only need to fatten a few weeks. They were free range. They are roaming the property during the day. There are a lot of ticks on the property and my little kids keep coming home with them. :x Hoping the roosters will help control this. My kids are saying we now have a city farm. Since I got the rabbits and chickens it is like a brighter world. :springtime: I deal with depression and this helps a lot. :badmood: Many people were in shock when I lost the farm they were supprised I dealt with it so well. I feel like Myself again. I am a true country girl. This week I also had a friend approach me to see if I would be intrested in raising sheep with her. She has 3 ewes. We would need to get a nice ram but then we could sell or eat the lambs. I don't know much about sheep but know about goats. If my x and I continue getting along I may talk to him about letting me use the back pasture for some meat goats and maybe a milker. finially after 6 years I feel like I am getting back in my element.
