I'm looking for ideas from the group on how each of YOU keep track of each kit during their first 6-8w
I'm interested on how, not which is better.... please
I've recently had a kindle of 9 champagne de Argent. They are all black, no significant color marks as of yet

Do you mean how to tell them apart?

Recently with my last litters I put marker on their tail tips
Not sure you could do that with Blacks but you could try giving them a temporary ear tattoo with sharpie

Thanks for the input
I was thinking about toe nail polish, since they have 8 hind toes
You can't really put colored collars on them like I've done with puppies
I've done the Sharpe thing before and I've had marginal results at best
Any other suggestions?

Ear tattoos are very common. If you enter an ARBA show, a tattoo is required.

You usually don't tattoo under 8-12 weeks, and this is about growth rates in the nest, so untill 8-12 weeks old. Plus the risk of the wound in warm sometimes moist conditions like a nest. So something temporary is needed, just means you need to repeat the markings every few days. So checking every feeding time, means you handle kits often to make them tame at the same time.
