So I have two chinchillas *color* and the first time they were bred we had a baby look black is there ANY possibility of two chins throwing a black?

Self does not have coat ticking. The hairs are one color. So the bands on each hair shaft that make the chinchilla color appear are not there. The black part covers the whole hair.

My little sister's buck has the self from the looks of it then
[album]3100[/album] he has some black on the ends of his fur my doe is the same except hers is only in certain places and it's brown I don't have the best pic but yeah [album]3099[/album] I think you can kinda see it in this

Just having a few solid hairs does not make them a self. All hairs should be one color. If you blow into the fur or part it you should see the same color all the way up the hair. If you see bands of color anywhere it is not a self. The markings are often referred to as agouti rings because of the way each band of color will go around the circle you blew into the coat at the same height. You can get the same effect splitting the fur in a line.
