Hello. Today I have a quite a problem. Long story short, our relatives got "a buck" from their friends, and as they don't keep rabbits, nor they eat rabbit meat, they offered it to us. They called him Zeko (meaning Bunny in Croatian). I had seen it once before, and thought it was a brown harlequin, so I was like; His name is Jaffa (cakes, not Israelian town, because Jaffas are brown and orange). But today, when "he" arrived to our house, two surprises; Jaffa is not a boy and Jaffa is not jaffa. She's a regular black and orange harlequin, and in desperate need of a name. My mum keeps insisting on nameing her Harlé, but she looks like Nalla to me. Also, if you have any other suggestions, feel free to suggest. Here are few pictures of "Jaffa":

Oh what a pretty thing! My new harlequin satin doe is named Harlow, because that's what my phone autocorrected "harle" to when I was sending pictures of her. I can't say I see the resemblance to the actress, but the bucks sure do seem wild about her.

I don't normally name my rabbits, the bucks are all named Bucky and the does are all numbered in Arabic, ١ ،٣،٢، ٤ ،٥, Wahed, Ithnayn, Thalaatha, Arbah, Kamsah, etc. I like the structure of sticking to numbers, but the bit of personality a foreign language gives.

My own super nerdy suggestion? In Batman the villainess Harley Quinn's real name is Dr. Harleen Frances Quinzel. I think Quinzel is a pretty quirky, adorable, unique name for a rabbit.

You win a zillion cool points for knowing Harley Quinn's given name. ;)

YES, I agree!!! :hooray:

I kept one of my doe's named the same as the breeder gave her. Her sister I changed the name from Millie to Mollie. Naming is hard. Do you have a favorite book or movie series? you could name her after a favorite character.

I had to look it up last week when I wanted to use it myself  Wikipedia wins a zillion cool points? At least we all knew who a Harley Quinn is, right? We gotta get some points for that! I still plan on using Harleen, Frances, and Quinzel for the buns I hold back for my tri-color project. And maybe it would be easier to tell the bucks apart if they were Bruce and Dick... Hmm...

How about Janne (pronounce Yon-uh) - I thought of it right away because I had a Norwegian friends whose little sister was named Janne, and she often complained that it can also be a man's name depending on the country!

If you're into meanings - It is a derivative of the Hebrew Yehanan, a short form of Yehohanan, which is from yehōhānān (Yahweh is gracious).

Her other sisters' name was Siri, which I also love. Btw, when she entered high school, Janne insisted everyone call her by the American version of her name, which is Julianne - but I don't think that's as good for a rabbit. :D

I really like Siri, but an old idea poped right back in my mind. I said if I have ever gotten a rat/mouse, I will hame it Sari. It's short, yet unique and kind of exotic. Yes, she's definitley Sari. Thank you all for your suggestions. My biggest problem is that I always seek a name that sounds equally good in English and Croatian. I like to keep it language neutral. Also, extra points if it sounds unisex. Human names, well, not my cup of tea. And Sari is just the perfect solution. And it is cool how sari (Indian clothes) is colorful, and Sari is too. Thank you all once again.

Brainstorming is such a good way to spark the imagination and remind us of things like this! Glad you found a good name for your bun!
