My 2 week old kit some how injured its leg overnight. It still stays in the nestbox (not trying to get out at all from any of this litter yet). The baby kind of drags but does use its leg a little (rear leg). What should I do for this poor little one. I am feeling so sorry for this baby, 1st the mother gets over zealous in her cleaning and nips the baby on the tummy and on the back both of which healed up very nicely but now this. :cry_baby:

I'm so sorry this little bun is having such a tough time! :(

You can give it some willow for pain. If you can figure out where it might have a fracture, you can splint it with a popsicle stick.

Other than that, I don't think you can do much but watch the little thing. :(

Think there is any chance it might have just been sore for some reason and will help up ok on its own? Any ideas on to what might have happened to cause something like this?

Yes, I certainly think that's possible. As for how it might have happened.. anything from Mom landing on its leg to getting the leg caught in the floor wire... rabbits work hard to find ways to hurt themselves.

It seems to be using the leg a little more today, just had it stretch out and it completely extending the leg in question like it normally would do.
Since this litter is not out on the wire yet, not even trying to get out of their nest box, that definitely couldn't be the cause. Mom landing on it is a possibility though. Hopefully this is just a slight sprain not a fracture and it heals up nice an quick. I hate that this particular little one has already been though so much.

Glad to hear it seems to be doing a little better! :) Poor little bun! It was probably just in the wrong place at the wrong time when Mom decided it was feeding time.
