Hello! have spent a little time checking out site last couple of months and am excited to be part of it now!
I am raising some meat rabbits - started last spring. I have 2 does and one buck - New Zealands - have had 3 litters now. I did raise rabbits for a few years when in early teens - years ago now - for 4-H project - my father butchered them for us to eat. Have found source of organic feed for them (which they love).
Look forward to sharing experiences and discovering resources in getting thru the 'learning curve' of raising them well. :)

Hello and welcome from Montana!

I also raise New Zealands (and rex). Mostly New Zealands. Im having lots of fun with my litters and their colours.
Wow -- you are up where it is really cold in the winter! How do you deal with the cold and the rabbits? ... are they inside a barn/shed? ... what type of waters or watering system do you use in the winter?
... and yes, the colors and patterns that the NZ kits turn out to be is always fun! I have one doe that is a brindle (?) .. lots of cinnamon. She had her first litter of ONE - turned out to be mostly cinnamon with some black.

Welcome to the forum! Glad you've joined us. I've been searching for new Zealand's for over a year now with no luck. Currently have Tamuks but am actively trying to replace them. Would love to see some pictures sometime of your new Zealand's.
Jump on in and enjoy!

My rabbits live in cages outside. When it too gets cold I cover the front with a tarp. I water in crocks /metal bowls in winter.
Cinnamon with black sounds like a tort. Will you please post pictures? I would love to see them!

I just had my first (broken) tort baby. So fun! So now Im learning about the torts. I have rew, black,GTS, frosties, chocolate, seal, sable points, broken sable point, siamese sable, red, mmm... and other brokens... ..
