Here's a couple of photos of some of my Homesteader kits. There's an example from each litter I have right now, both were born 4/26, placing them at 6 1/2 weeks old today. Litter #1 (Palomino doe x Californian buck) averages 2.75lbs, litter #2 (AmChin/Champagne/Satin doe x Lilac buck) averages 2.25lbs. Litter #1 has 6 kits in it whereas litter #2 has 12.
For those who aren't familiar with what I mean by Homesteaders - this is NOT a breed, Homesteader is a blanket term that I've given to my strain of mutt rabbits that I have developed to produce big, fat, meaty dinners on not a lot of food with large litters and super-duper mothers. There is no physical standard other than a well-muscled carcass, meaning I don't breed for color or short ears or whatever. Just meat and motherhood.
