Hair loss-not sure what's happening

Hi!
So my sister's fluffy Dwarf buck's fur has been falling out. Like actually all the way, so now there is a hairless patch on his nose. It has happened progressively over the past few weeks. I don't know why. We thought it might be from him scratching his nose on a bit of sharp wire in his cage while trying to get to another buck. We took the wire out yesterday, but more hair has come out. And he didn't have scratches either, which is strange if he was scratching it on the wire.
But the skin where there is no fur looks completely healthy. No crusts, scabs or dandruff, no redness, no bumps. He otherwise is acting normal. Eating, drinking, everything fine. I thought maybe he has a deficiency of some sort, but my other rabbits are fine on the same diet. 1/4 cup good pellets they have had their whole lives, plenty of hay and some carrots every other day.

Do any of you have an idea of what might be happening? My sister is very worried.

Hi, no answer here but wanted to say that I have a similar problem with one of my does..Her entire butt tali included went bald :? .I couldn't figure it out so I put some D.E. on it. Figured it couldn't hurt. the fur grew back but now the tops of her feet, and the bottom of her belly is doing it??? :x If anyone can help,I would like to avoid freezer camp but at this point I am looking at it as the only option. Can't breed that into the herd...

Nope, bright pink. she is a PEW. I thought maybe her neighbor was pulling it out on her bum, but I cant figure out the tops or her feet and ankles..dusted her again last week and she seems to be growing it back. :?

Hey, Little fluffy. I was wondering if your bun lounges under the water bottle.? I have seen posts about facial hair loss from hanging around under the drips. In fact there was a picture of a rabbit with an almost completely bald head..I cant remember the post but I think if you search fur loss it should come up..

^^^ Yes! We have a rabbit who was losing fur in the same place. He loved to sit under his dripping water bottle. Eventually had to give him a crock instead of a bottle.

The moisture causes a fungal infection in the skin. We treated it with Nu-Stock. You can also treat it with athlete's foot cream.

He doesn't have a water bottle, he has a bowl. I'm very confused about him.
He is housed right next to another buck, and I am thinking it might be possible that the the other buck is sticking his nose through the gaps in the wire and is pulling out his fur. We are going to move the other buck for a while and see if the his fur grows back. If that's not it, I have no idea what it is

Don't worry katiebear! Maybe we will both get help for the bunnies with mysterious hairdos :lol:

With that straight line where the bald spot ends it looks like Olaf sticks his head through wire, always at the same spot and angle. Have seen something like that on mice.

I think I was too quick to panic....
Olaf's fur has started growing back! I didn't have anywhere to move the other buck, so left them for a few days, and Olaf's fur grew back anyway. Preitler, you were right! It was the wire.
