Hello all
My Californian doe has developed some strange lumps inside her ears. Thinking back I did notice some blood pinpricks here a few weeks ago, which looked like either bites or perhaps she might have damaged her cage and maybe loosed a single piece of wire which caused this. I didn't think anything much of it at the time, she's always had an amazing immune system, and I just expected them to scab, heal and get better as usual.
I haven't been doing too well with my own health, and others have been helping me out with the buns, so I haven't always checked on her as regularly as I normally would, she's been one of the ones that I've left to the others to feed - and I wouldn't expect anyone else to have noticed it.
It looks like a blocked gland, except I didn't think rabbits had glands in their ears as such. I was expecting it to have puss and be soft, so I've treated it tonight by using a hot cloth to bring the blood to the area which she seemed to quite enjoy. I then finished off by treatng it with iodine, and it doesn't seem to be causing her any pain. No tooth grinding or any signs of pain when I touched them. It's in both ears, but one is worse than the other and looks like it has a bit of a scab above it.
Hoping someone might recognize this and help me to diagnose/treat it.
Perhaps @Alaska Satin have you encountered this before?
