Just curious as to who among the RT crowd is planning on attending the show in Greensboro, NC show this coming weekend?

It's your state convention and it's going to be held at the Greensboro Coliseum Complex. There are going to be 4 shows between Saturday and Sunday. Looks to be a huge event.

Here's the link to the ARBA show search page: http://arba.net/showsSearch.php#showsearch

Just scroll down the page to where it gives you the option to select the state, then view the show catalog by clicking the link on the page which comes up.

Yep, SatinsRule pretty much has it covered. I didn't see your question until just a few minutes ago. I think I've got my lineup, and plan on emailing my entry tonight. Deadline for email/phone entry is 9 pm March 6th (tomorrow). I'm still undecided on whether I want to show one day or both days. I might just show Saturday, as getting rabbits loaded up and unloaded, to load up again the next day, may be more than I want to take on. It is an opportunity to get 4 shows in one weekend or more if you're entered in one of the breed specialty shows being held.

Can't go. I am working but tell us about it when you get back. Good luck. :D
That is a 5 hour drive for me. We tend to do everything in Va because Richmond is only 2 hours away.

Be mindful also to notice that there are several breeds which will be having specialty-specific shows this weekend in Greensboro. Great news if you raise one of the breeds they're throwing the party for and you're looking for alot of competition. Not so great news if your breed is not among the ones which a specialty show is being held for. Often times, that adds up to you being one of the few (if not only) breeder(s) showing up with your chosen breed of rabbit. Far more often than not, a rabbit which wins BOB in an uncontested breed doesn't fare well in any open BIS competition judging, regardless of how good the rabbit is. Fair or not, it is exactly what it is.

Well, it is, what it is as far as specialty / non specialty. Mine are "non" so we'll see what happens. I don't have a 5 hr trip, more like 50 minutes, so will be going and returning home and going again. I decided to do 3 shows - Saturday and Sunday morning and will let you know how it goes.

I hope you have a great time. Wish we could go, but like currituckbun, 5 hours is just too big a trip.

Good luck! Sounds like a very full weekend. How many rabbits are you entering?

Well I sent my entry in today and got notified it was received. Soooo, looks like 5 rabbits are going to make the journey(s). I entered them in the Saturday A/B shows and Sunday A. I may take a couple more to try and sale, but we'll see. I only have (1) spare hole in my carriers, so that's something else on the agenda - buy another carrier or two. I need one to replace the homemade one with the flimsy flashing bottom pan. Like most hobbies .... Did you hear that???? A big sucking sound coming from the billfold. :cry_baby:

I bought carriers for the same amount it cost to make my own, and they are much nicer. Hopefully you will break even if you sell some rabbits!

Do you hear that same sound when you go to a restaurant, amusement park, movie theatre, to your favorite clothing store, or just about any other activity you may do for fun?

My point is not to sweat it. Not that it should ever be an excuse to overindulge to the point of financial ruin, but you need to spend a little money toward enjoying yourself once in a while.

I'm headed to Sedalia, MO this weekend, and that is on the heels of forking out $320 last week for transmission servicing, $200 for a vet bill to get my dog's shots updated, and an upcoming bill which will likely set me back upwards of $700 on the front end of my truck which I just paid off. I could find plenty of reasons not to go to Sedalia, but I've been looking forward to it and preparing for it far too long, and I know I need to unwind a bit.

DH and i refer to it as our beer and cigarette money. ( neither of us drink or smoke..so we need Some way to blow our money...right ???)

Good luck in Sedalia this weekend SatinsRule.

Good Luck to You Lastfling.

Looking forward to Your reports.... :bunnyhop:

I agree, if it wasn't something I wanted to do, I wouldn't spend. The comment was meant more "tongue in cheek" than as a complaint. What I'm spending on rabbits now, I was spending on out of state hunting licenses and hunt club dues, etc., in past years. If you enjoy something, there's no reason to feel bad about spending a little $ on it. As long, as was stated, you're not spending more than you can afford. I feel for you and truck repairs. I replaced the transmission in mine last year, and am having to consider the possibility of replacing it sometime soon. With 450+ thousand miles currently, I can't complain though.

Thanks. Good luck to you in the coming weeks as well. Looks like we could all use a little of it with the crazy weather that people across this great country have been experiencing as of late. ;)

I hear you, and it's like I told the people I work with. Ain't no way I'm trading my silver chevy silverado off, and I look at it like this: If I were still making payments on it, with it being outside of warranty now, I'd be looking at a bank note and a monthly payment on it after paying the repair bill anyway. As it now is, as soon as the repair bill is paid I won't owe anyone else a thin dime. I may get another vehicle to save on gas, but I won't part with Quick Silver.

Just like the commercials -- "Built like a Rock!" I can make a lot of repairs for the cost of a new vehicle these days. :D
