Friday, September 9 was a busy day for me. Our Great Dane appeared to be in stage 1 labor and it had started Wednesday night. Thursday night I kept checking on her so didn't get much sleep at all, then Friday morning as soon as the vet opened I took her in. Things just didn't feel right and I was worried she had a stuck pup. Xray showed no pup in the birth canal, first pup was in good position and everything was ready so vet gave her a shot of oxytocin to induce her and gave her some oral calcium and sent two more doses home with me.
I got home about 10 and labor hadn't progressed, so followed directions and gave her another dose of oxytocin at 11 and at 11:55am the first two pups were born, back to back.
It was a hard, long labor and very odd for her. She had 4 quickly, then stopped until 3pm and had 1, then had a few others early Saturday morning, then seemed done but had only given birth to 9 and the xray showed at least 13 so late Saturday evening I gave her another dose of oxytocin and we ended up having to pull a dead pup, then she had 2 more and finally finished up Sunday morning. The grand total was 14, but 2 were stillborn and we lost the runt this morning. She is doing good, still has some discharge that I am watching but the babies are growing fast and gaining weight good so I don't think we will lose any others.
We got Black, Merle, Blue, harlequin and Blue Harlequin.

Forgot Aristotle lol. They are doing really good with using puppy pads, like baths, are really starting to wander now. They play a lot.

He is Beautiful! Is there a particular term for half face harlequin markings?
I don't think there's a term for it. He's the only one with the perfect split in the litter. He's an oddball. He's quiet and just sits back and watches everything. He is also more independent and is the first to wander off and go exploring on his own.

Puppy update :) We also still have some available. They will be 7 weeks old tomorrow. They go to the vet for 8 week puppy shots, microchips, exams, and then most will be picked up that weekend. Started leash training today but only had time to work with a few. They LOVE being outside and playing with leaves lol.
