genius feeder

i bought a few cages recently, four of which had this feeder on them. i think its genius in design. it does not require cutting into the wire but still works like a normal j-feeder. plus it has a fairly large capacity, close to 3 cups or so. i especially like the fact that the fines fall into the tray instead of onto the floor just outside the cage

NOTE: Look at the pictures from the bottom up! i uploaded them in the wrong order but it will make much more sense if you start at the bottom.

Hmm, interesting...wonder where those came from? Wouldn't make too much difference for me since I don't have trays and I aready cut my cage wire LOL! But, if you have trays it looks like it would work well.

Same design as my parrot feeders. There is a tray that sits on the inside of the cage and a tube that sits on the outside of the cage and you screw the 2 pieces against the wire and fill the tube. The seed or pellets fall through the wire to the tray with little grooves fitting between the cage wires to seal everything together. Unfortunately my cage wire is not spaced properly and creates a gap that smaller pieces fall through resulting in waste. I would think the rabbit feeders have the same detail of needing wire the same spacing as the feeder so it might not work to buy the feeders separate from the cage unless they offer multiple sizes.

they don't have online ordering [they're in central California]

I'm thinking these might be great in the birthing cages. I just can't bring myself to cut the wire for a feeder in those.

i know! i've had litters have pushed off the feeders and escaped out the holes. i have a black doe named houdini she was on the third tier of a stacked cage. lol she was fine.

I do believe these will be my next feeders. Of course, that will be a long time from now, as my Fine-X feeders are only a year and a half old. This would have been great... I have a few feeders I wish I could move.
