forgot to potty the rabbit...

After squirting myself by accident with a dead rabbit, I learned that if I hold them rear-down and squeeze their lower abdomen a bit till they stop peeing, things are a little less messy.
Today I forgot to do that and had a huge full bladder greet me when I cut open the unlucky guy. :x It was too tempting, so I threw it like a water balloon. Pee went everywhere. Luckily far away from me. lol
Does anyone else make the rabbit go potty after dispatch before they carry on, or am I just weird? :?

Never thought about it, but I stop feeding about two days before butcher, and withhold water one day.

Last time I butchered, I emptied the bladders into a jar for my dh to use for trapping this winter. It's in the freezer now.

I have always heard it stresses rabbits out too much to withhold food & water so I never have. They aren't hard to work with at all.
