My 7 month old doe had 14 kits this morning. Her mother also has lots of kits. I bred her 1 time just in case.

We lost 6 due to the cold.

However she is still bleeding 8+ hours later and her vent is swollen, purple and in bad shape.

What can I do to help her? It doesn't feel like anything is stuck necessarily, I gently felt to see if a kit was stuck or something. Ideas?

Edit: she has been in warm water for about 20 mins. No contractions and I don't feel any kits when I palpate.

I called my vet (who doesn't see rabbits) and he said it sounded like a possible prolapse. He suggested honey on it to reduce swelling for about 15 mins and/or a cold compress. Then to attempt to push back in with a gloved, lubed finger. I'll report back.

Second edit:

I was able to gently push some protruded "bits" back in. It was certainly not a kit nor placenta. I'm very sure. No contracting during this either. She's had a soak in the tub with epsom salt and she's dry, has honey on the exterior of her vent. She's eaten a little parsley and hay and has red raspberry tea for a drink. She's in a cage inside with her babies for now so I can keep an eye on her. I'll report back later. Any additional ideas, please feel free. I've never had this happen with a doe before.
