At our fair this week they had an open class rabbit show (whatever that means LOL!) So since my son has some of the rabbits there anyways he decided he wanted to try out a real rabbit show. My son enjoyed it and we learned alot!!

Our mini rex doe did bad, judge said she is low in shoulder and flat in the HQ and her fur is thin (she does ave a litter of babies)but good head and ears.

Our Flemish giant buck did much better he got BOSV, judge said he would have got BOV but his fur has a little red tinge to it, but he did like his structure better than the blue doe that he was up against.

We met a breeder of FG's there and he told me that this fall he is going to breed his does again, and he will help us out and make us a deal on a rabbit (his rabbit took BOB) He said the line our rabbit comes from is known for having that red color on its blues.

Congratulations!Open classes at our fair are for non 4H exhibitors.

sadly no pics my camera is acting up and wouldnt take in the low light of the barn.

I think my son is hooked, he cant wait until the next show!

So thrilled your son had a great time at the show. Wishing him luck! What an excellent thing to be hooked on. Showing and raising rabbits.

The next show here is in August and I'm taking 2 of my FWs. My competition will be the breeder I got them from. :)

Open classes are normally for adult & youth exhibitors, while youth classes (as the name implies) are for exhibitors age 18 and younger.

Great news that you did well, but even more importantly, that you enjoyed the event. Being in OH, you should have no problems finding an ARBA sanctioned show to attend.
