#1 buck - he's got good shoulders and depth of rise
#3 doe - she's also got the shoulders and depth of rise
#4 - the rise is too far forward
I like both the blues, nice and balanced

Keep in mind I'm not at all sure if I'm accurate or not.

The blues are what I'm shooting for, they are bigger, faster growers, putting my 16 week old buck to shame. I am tempted to cull hard and start with them.

in the cage I couldn't tell them apart, I kept grabbing the one that looked like a buck to find out it was Isis.

I wonder if blue rabbits taste as good as white rabbits, all the rabbits ive eaten were at least partly white.

Sky, where in the midwest are you?,,what state?

Not sure, thee are pellet fed, so I'm thinking MSD's blues probably taste better. Bet the white ones were pellet fed too.

I'm in Ohio.

You gotta make your picts. Judge them almost like you would judge NZ's or satins, except rex don't get as big as fast. I gotta separate and reduce numbers.

I have to disagree with 6rivers about #5. This is just my personal opinion.
I would cull number 5. Going by just the pictures she is extremely hollow in the shoulders compared to the others and is also really long threw the midsection. I do however like her width.
I would also cull #6. He is extremely pinched in the hindquarters and narrow in the shoulders.
The rest I would wait a few weeks then evaluate once they have matured a bit more.
I really like the 2 blues.

I must be lost or confused or something,,,,did you change pictures?,,,i thought there were more black and white ones?,, i dont like black rabbits,,, but i thought there was a black and white one there last night that i liked.,OR was that a different thread?

This is how I know I have a lot to learn. After seeing this and looking back at the pic it is plain as day. I think I was so focused on the hindquarters I never saw the shoulders. Very helpful thread.

It just so happens, that I have a problem with shoulders in this herd, so low shoulder, long shoulders and narrow shoulders get culled quickly.

__________ Mon Jun 25, 2012 1:37 pm __________

I kept two does. Bucks go away quickly here.
