So I posted this summer about moving and getting rabbits. I moved in August and bought my first pair of rabbits a few weeks later. It was a pair of siamese satins off of craigslist. I knew it was risky as neither rabbit was pedigreed, they had no idea how old they were, and they had never been bred before. But I fell in love with them and decided to give them a try.

This is our buck, Snickers.

And our doe, Skittles.

I bred them and Skittles had a litter of 5 on day 32. They were all scattered around her cage and only one survived. It died a few days later :( So I bred her again, and on 11-12 she had a beautiful litter of 4. They are all big and healthy and she is taking care of them perfectly.

Here they are today (7 days old)

I also bought a beautiful copper satin doe who is pedigreed. I know you're not supposed to breed coppers and siamese, but these will just be for meat. The copper has mostly white's in her pedigree, along with a siamese, blue, and a couple blacks. I'm anxious to see what colors I get out of her.

Cinnabun (lol just realized the pic still says Tootsie, my daughter picked the name and then changed her mind)

Anyway, I'm just so excited to finally have rabbits :) Just wanted to share!

Beautiful! We ALMOST grabbed a Siamese from the breeder we got ours from... maybe we'll have to go back! hehe

I really love the siamese too. The only problem is that I always know what the kits will look like lol. I want some variety. I did find a broken black NZ doe for sale near me that I am thinking about getting. Not sure what I would get if bred to my siamese buck, but I'm sure there would at least be some variety in the colors :)

Congratulations on getting back into rabbits. Really lovely satins. Sorry to hear about the first litter, but looks like success for your newest litter. Definitely looks like Mom is doing an excellent job. Love the darker one in the litter.
