I just had to share this little one. I'm not sure if it's a doe or a buck yet. It's 2.5 weeks old.

It has no color at all on it's nose. I've gotten quite a few false charlies from this doe and her sister but I've never seen one with white on it's ear.

Any thoughts on what might be going on?

I don't know. I would probably call it a broken black, but it looks like it might have some lighter, brownish fur mixed in there, so

Is there a possibility that it could be a broken Gold Tipped Steel or broken chestnut? (doesn't really look like a broken chestnut to me)

Laff, it could be either a gold tipped steel or a broken chestnut. I'm leaning toward broken chestnut as the dam hasn't thrown any GTS to the lilac buck but but has thrown dark chestnuts. This is only their second pairing though so it could have just been luck that I didn't see it before. Her previous litters were by a silver tipped steel so I haven't been able to figure out if she does or does not carry steel yet.

I just thought it was really neat the amount of white this kit has when the sire is solid.

As long as you have one broken parent, the kit can have any amount of white, from very little to mostly white. That's because the kits are either EE or En (I think that's the right one). If they're broken, they're broken.

I get false charlies from a brokenXsolid breeding every time. :)
