I thought I would mention this to see if anyone else has noticed it. Please forgive me if it is a well known and obvious fact as I have never had ear mites before.

I have had an outbreak and it seems that every rabbit to have mites also has rubbed the fur from their faces until they are bald. I am guessing that to relieve the itch they are rubbing and not at all accurately.

Your thoughts?

-- Thu May 05, 2016 8:09 am --

No one has noticed this? Perhaps I am making an incorrect connection.

There could be a connection, but I've never heard of that behaviour coupled with ear mites. (Which means nothing, since there are millions of things that I have never heard of. )

I'm wondering if maybe the rabbits also have fur mites.

If you successfully treat for ear mites and the behaviour stops, that would be a strong indication that your theory is correct.
