Update - I decided not to go with the velveteens at this time and concentrate entirely on upgrading the quality of my elop herd.

I am still picking up 4 rabbits so far at convention. I am getting a male/female pair from each breeder.

From the breeder where I am getting Packard, the harly buck, I am also getting a bkn opal doe. Having both the agouti and bkn gene, I am hoping for tri babies out of the pair. She is also part of a chocolate project and has chocolate in her background, so maybe a couple of those too. Here is her pic.

__________ Sun Sep 09, 2012 9:09 am __________

From the top breeder where I am getting my herd buck, I am also picking up a bkn creme 6-8 doe. She, too, has already won both of her jr legs, one as a BOB and one as BOS. I'm told she is no longer showable tho, due to the fact that she has nicked one of her ears. I've not seen the nick, but showable or not, she's got some great bloodlines behind her. Her brother, and a sister, have both won, and her brother took BOB at the double show where she placed BOS No pic of this one as yet, but she is a real beauty. I have very high hopes for this pair's babies.

very nice.... How do you keep there ears clean and keep there fur on there ears?

Honestly, the rabbits do most of the work. I swap them out with a cotton ball moistened with water or alcohol occasionally, if there seems to be dirt deep inside, but the rabbits spend a lot of time taking care of them.

As far as keeping the fur on, I've never had that problem. The bunnies learn at a very young age to put most of their weight on their hocks, because their toenails are usually sitting on their ears.

Really, really good news came today. My herd buck had already been entered in a double show before the breeder decided to sell him to me. I found out this morning that he won 2 more legs, BOB at both shows, so he now has enough for his grand championship with a total of 4 legs before he's even 8 months old! I'm really excited and yes, I can hardly wait for Halloween to get here!

This guy...
