My kits are three weeks old today. They were all fine this morning, but I went out a little while ago and found one of them collapsed. I took her out, and she had no strength. She had very runny poo, and some red mucus stuff, or something I have no idea what it is, coming out of her bottom. Her breathing was shallow. She passed in a matter of minutes. I have no idea what happened, or what is wrong. I am very afraid that my other rabbits are all going to die too. I am very scared and sad. Does anyone know what might have been wrong, and anything I can do to protect the others?

They were all active, doing great, nursing, drinking water, nibbling on pellets and a tiny bit if hay if some dropped from the clip. There was some poo in the corner, I was planning on cleaning it out today. everyone had been perfectly normal this morning.
I've had something similar except that the baby was smaller than the rest and wouldn't eat unless she was hand fed.

Good news is, the others all seem fine. Bad news, my dog somehow got one of them. :(
I don't know how she did, but now I am super sad. We moved the 4 left inside, and are reinforcing the cage today. I almost feel like giving up, but I know two isn't a terrible loss. it's just hard when they are also your pets. I had been prepared to lose kits, but not so tragically. I know I shouldn't give up though. It is just hard.

-- Sat Mar 26, 2016 4:07 am --

Oops this is LFB my sister forgot to log out and I didn't know and thought it was my account lol! Next time I will look and see if she is logged out.

Chances are as time goes on you're going to have more kits than you'll know what to do with them.
