ok rabbit people.. I have a doe thats collecting hay (right now) and shes not due until Aug 27th.. Should I give her a box now or wait????????

Is this a new rabbit? Any possibility she could have been bred a month ago without you knowing it? If not, this could be a false pregnancy. Or she could just be an early nester. We've been hearing a lot about that this year, perhaps due to the weather.

I'd give her the box and see what she does with it. Be sure not to put it on or near her potty corner, or she may start using the nest box for a litter box.

I asked the breeder when I bought her if she had ever been bred and she said no. Ok I'll give her a box and see what happens, thanks again and sorry for my newbie questions

I have a doe doing the same thing right now, nestbox day is the 13th though. She's funny, I feed everyone a big handful of hay every morning, and she does the same thing with hers every day for the last week. Collects it in her mouth, spins around, and does it all over. Does a little shifting here and there, and makes a big hay mess in her cage. It's gone by the end of the day though, and I give her more at night, only to watch her little hay moving all over again. I gave her a nestbox, but she just dug it all up, and pushed it out, so I took it out, she wasn't ready for it. She is REALLY big though, so I know she is bred at least. Gonna put the box back in with her tomorrow, and see what happens again.

My other doe that pulled fur 2 weeks early was a false pregnancy, so I guess it could go either way unfortunately.

give a box. won't hurt. :) some does like to nest early.

I've three does due then as well. One wants a box now so she'll get it.

Both my does start nesting about 2 weeks early, every time. I give them a nestbox about 10 days in advance and they seem happier that way.
