My kits are about 4 days old and I'm noticing dry peeling skin on some of them. My guess is they scratch each other when they are in a pile digging down. It's just the outer layer of skin.
Are they like human babies, dry skin normal a few days after birth?
Just want to make sure it's nothing to worry about.

Sometimes I see dandruff on the napes of my kits necks. I was afraid it might be fur mites, but the fur grows in normally, so it is just dry skin in my case.

It first appeared like scratch marks that broke the outer skin and dried. Near their hips and necks/ears. It's definetly dry skin, is that a symptom of fur mites?

Can you post some pictures? That would help....

When did you last trim the doe's nails? She could be scratching them.

I trimmed doe's nails about 2 wks. ago (went ahead and did it again today), but the scratches I saw at first looked more like the size of kit claws. I also wiped the kits in case it was urine, but it was definetly skin some of it peeled off easy, what didn't I left.
Here are the pic's, there are 5 to show various parts of body they are on.
One thing I wanted to mention is that some of these dry skin areas are the same exact spots I noticed being smooth looking/bald when they were born. (Especially the one with the 2 spots right on the hip bones.) Anyway, here they are:

I think that is just normal shedding of the skin. Bigger flakes than what I have seen, but the underlying tissue looks nice and healthy.

That's a relief! Those cute little kits are soooooooo sweet!

Yes, either that or she just did not clean them all that well and it is leftover birth fluid or milk that dried...I don't see anything to be concerned about...:)
