This morning "at first pee" I held the door for the dogs, waiting for Gretchen to come back in. After a few minutes, holding the door and calling I went back to bed, deciding she could "just stay out there, then." When I got up "for real" a few hours later and let the three other dogs out for second pee, I expected Gretchen to bound off the doghouse roof and in through the door, disgruntled at having been left out. She was not there. Well, they have new beef bones in the yard.....It was only when I called the dogs to breakfast that I remembered my husband had gone to the woods for the weekend and taken Gretchen with him.
