So I have a rex rabbit she is a year old and she is now 31 days pregnant. She has a nesting box and a few different spots to nest in yet I haven't seen any nest and she is a first time mom and she has gained a ton of weight.. what should I do?

Leave the box! ;)

If she's gained weight, that suggests she's pregnant. Some does don't begin to build a nest or pull fur until during or after kindling. Nest-building and hay-staching is suggestive, but not all does do that.

And not all does kindle on Day 31. I have a Californian doe that always has her bunnies on Day 35. I've been stung numerous times by taking nest boxes out too soon, so I always leave them in at least a week past the due date.

Especially as a first time mom, there's a small chance she doesn't make a nest or even pull fur until after the kits are born. I suggest checking on her first thing every morning. You may have to relocate newborns to a nest you build, if she doesn't catch on.

If you have a store of her fur from brushing, keep it close to hand; it could be handy to keep the kits warm.

I had a doe one time that would carry for 4 weeks or more. Her line has had week-late births on occasion. The good news is, late kits are generally larger and grow fur faster, making them hardier when born in cold weather.
