My ea doe had a hay moustache so i gave her a box. She proceeded to make a nest and pull hair. Is this normal for 6 days early? All the rabbits I've bred before waited till kindling. Hopefully this is a sign that she is gonna be a good mom.

It can be a sign of a false pregnancy but I did have a doe who would nest 2 weeks early. She'd usually make 3 or 4 nests in different places and then finally make a last nest in the box when the kits came. She'd be so bald from just one litter that I could only breed her a couple times a year. I also have one that from the end of the first week on she's a destructive single minded psycho rabbit who tries to build a tunnel everywhere and destroys everything. She doesn't get aggressive at least but I have to be sure to put her in a solid cage with a feeder that won't come off.

Its not a false pregnancy i can feel the kits very well. Wow i guess some dies just have some strange nestbox habits.

What do they feel like? My doe is nesting and it's day 30 for her, but I thought she missed...

I didn't feel anything at day 14 either, but I am thinking i'm probably just really bad at palpating.

Just resting my hand on her stomach she feels "lumpy" at her stage in pregnancy. if you did the same thing though you should be able to feel them moving. Put a nestbox just in case though.

Some of them show no sign of pregnancy. One of my mini rex popped out 5 one day and she looked just as slim and firm with no movement noticeable the day before she had them as the day she was bred. Others it's extremely obvious and you can see kits kick from across the room.

I had a doe without fail that pulled hair 12-14 days early and she NEVER failed to produce kits. Sadly she was a old doe I bought to train my now manly man buck :p She is a lot like me in the fact she over prepares for tasks :p

The first two times I bred Scream, she made the nest at least a week in advance, so did holland number one. The last two times, Scream never even made a nest, at least she used the nest box I gave her. Holland 1 made her nest in advance as usual, and kindled one dead kit. Holland number three started nesting at least 10 days in advance, so I gave her a box, which she soiled over and over. Finally she made a proper clean nest and kindled 1 dead kit on the wire. There seems to be no pattern, so I give the box when I see them nesting, and if I don't see them nesting around day 30, I make the nest myself.

One of my does nests about 10 days earily.she is due the 19th and she already has her nest ready filled it with hair yesterday.
