My latest kits when they escape the cages can be found on top of the stairs. Don't know if they just like the height or if it's just easier for them to climb instead of hopping down. My rabbits in multi-level cages often rest on the top self.

I've had one litter of kits escape a few times before (even though it's basically impossible)
