My NZ doe kindled today: 6 DOA (3 of which were underdeveloped) & 7 live.

She passed a pretty good amount of blood, although it doesn't appear she is bleeding anymore. She had a difficult time with her last kindle too, and had one kit stuck, but all was well afterwards. Maybe she has too much internal fat?

What herbs can I give her to help her recover? I am also worried about fly strike, with her bloody backside and it being warm.

The 7 live ones look alright. Some are pretty small but they've all been fed.

if she doesn't clean herself up fairly quickly, I'd be bringing her in the house for a quick bath.

just wash her bottom off....

I don't think you need to do a whole lot with her, just give her some time to clean herself up and relax a bit.

Some does pass A LOT of blood, while others do not. They usually clean themselves off on their own, but if you want you could rinse her hind end to get most of the blood off.

You might want to feed her foods high in Vitamin K since it helps coagulate the blood. http://www.healthdiaries.com/eatthis/10 ... min-k.html

Here is a pic of one of my does who was on the bloody side of the spectrum:

Yeah, I've been leaving her alone so far. I was going to give her til these evening to clean herself up, I'm just worried the flies will find her first. I'm hoping she does it herself, because she's a big rabbit and not too keen on being handled. :x

Thanks. None of my other does bleed this much, so it made me worry a little. :x I caught her pretty soon after the act, so hopefully she will clean herself up soon.

I have a little doe about 8 lbs. She had a litter of 8..bled like a stuck pig..for a day or so..She cleaned herself up and is fine.. sometimes it just looks bad. :x
