Dewclaws broke and were loose

For starters this is emmz101, demamma' s daughter. I was holding one of my does and she jumped out of my arms. The fall wasn't far or hard. Just from my arms to the surface I was sitting on. When I flipped her over her dewclaws were bloody and loose. My Mom pulled them out so they wouldn't snag and fall out later. My doe seemed fine. Just wondering if anyone else ever had a rabbit whose claws came out and what happened.

Just the thought of that makes me want to :runhills:

I have had a dog tear a dewclaw, and it regrew fine, but if she actually removed the entire nail, I don't think they will grow back.

Please do keep us updated on if they do.

I have a buck who just broke 3 nails from a jump, he fell on the ground.
Never had that happen before, he is just easily spooked when you hold him.
I put his paw in a bowl filled with flower and it stopped the bleeding.

Yow!

I discovered one of mine had broken a dewclaw off when I was clipping their nails. I never saw blood or anything. It healed up well, but I have no idea whether it will ever grow back.

It was very loose and felt like it was broke down in. I was worried about it snagging as it was wobbling loose and at crazy angle. All it took was a fast pull and very little blood. I thought it was just the one but the other one felt like it was broke up in. One side you can not feel claw in skin other side I think was almost broke through. I can feel a little nail in skin. She seems fine tonight no blood and not acting hurt or anything. I was afraid not to pull since it was all ready so loose and sure to snag.
