I've read about them before, but never noticed the 'native to US' part, haha.

They look a lot like a mix of Chinchilla/squirrel and hamster...=D

it's too bad that they aren't genetically diverse anymore though. all that mixing of other rabbits in with them.

But it's nice they worked hard to save them.

Cute little guys, it's nice to see people working so hard to preserve them. Hard to imagine a full grown rabbit 1/2 the size to the smallest NDs.

My husband told me about these bunnies. When he live in Escandio, California, right outside of San Diego, near Powway, there was a lovely older lady who had a yard full. Now this is back in the 70's. I thought he was kidding. Thanks for posting.
