This American doe is so large I've had to give her a nest box made out of a cat's litter pan with a bunch of drainage holes drilled in it. (And then I put a resting board over that to help keep everyone dry) Mom loves to rearrange the furniture and toys anyway so she keeps moving the "box" and tipping the babies out.
I wasn't too surprised to see only one baby in the box this morning, but when I moved the box, I didn't see them huddled up beside it, either....no where! They weren't there! What the Heck! Laughed myself silly with relief when I realized that the little cub scouts had gone camping in mama's food dish. They were so tired from their big adventures that they let me take them, bowl and all into the house to find a camera without them waking up.
