Hello all. I raise New Zealand Whites and have a question regarding cross breeding. Someone is going to give me a New Zealand Black. Is it fine to cross breed the two? Probably an elementary question, but I am a newbie.

You can cross breed any rabbit, I think most people have mixes/mutts :) but in your case they are both New Zealand's so they would still be purebreds :D

For show purposes, crossing REW to Black (or red or blue) it is not recommended as you may get unshowable colours like chestnut or gold tipped steel

Depends upon what your goals are.
You will still get NZ rabbits.
You will find out a little bit about what the genotype of each is by the color of the kits.
the Black's genotype is aa B_ C_D_E_
the white is __ __ cc __ __
so you should find out if the black carries "c" albino
and if the white carries either A or a
not likely that either carry "b" brown but they could carry "d" dilute, in which case you could get blue
and if they come from red lines they could carry "e" non-extension.
Let us know what you get :)
