For once the weather forecast was correct, and we have SNOW! The kids and critters are having a blast. My feet are frozen- cowboy boots aren't very snow proof, lol.

Here is the house, all covered in snow:

This is Oprah, eagerly awaiting delivery of her doeling for her morning repast:

Look at what a good mom she is, lifting her leg out of the way for her little goatling:

Half of the shelter has our hay in it, and look who found a warm spot out of the weather:

The Jersey Woolys seem to be enjoying the cold:

The chickens not so much... only the youngsters that live under the coop where it is relatively dry are out, but then they have no choice in the matter:

The horses all seem very content:

As do the goats:

Good thing my "Barn Cats Extraordinaire" tend to be furry:

Levi blasting through the snow with Hermione in hot pursuit:

Colliepup went sledding, but Levi believes the snow disc is an enormous frisbee:

The "pups" also decided to take a snow hike. Our property extends just over the crest of that hill:

Very cool! I gather snow is an "event" at your place, MSD. I kind of wish it were so here. The ice was so bad today that I didn't dare go down to do critter chores. I can't afford another fall and it was just that bad. MidnightCoder has been filling in for me on bad days. His bones are still reasonably young.

Yes, it is pretty special for us. Usually when we get snow it melts by the afternoon, so the kids take full advantage when we get enough for them to go sledding. :)

We don't often get this much snow at once- this started yesterday afternoon, and continued through the night. There should be more on the way for the rest of the week. :)

I'm happy that we are finally getting some precipitation- it has been a very dry winter so far.

I wouldn't want to deal with it all of the time here either, Maggie. One of the dogs almost knocked me over today just by brushing up against me. I'm glad MC is helping you out with the chores while it is so dangerous outside. :)

Give that boy some raisins and dandelion greens!

What absolutely gorgeous pictures MSD.

I love how, in almost every one, the animals are looking at you like "What IS this stuff?"

Those are great pics! Thanks for sharing. I'm getting tired of all this white stuff. More of it was falling while I was doing chores this morning. Want me to send more your way? :D

Did I really count 6 horses? I am major jealous!
How many acres do you have?

I think we are getting more snow tomorrow, so no thanks!

Yes- we have 6 horses. :D We own 20 acres.

Coco- 35 yr. old Appy gelding belonging to Firstpup, but now being ridden by Colliepup.
Candy- 33 yr. old red roan QH mare belonging to Queenpup.
Marley- 8? yr old blue roan Nakota Mustang mare belonging to Colliepup.
BeachBoy- 3 yr. old Paint gelding belonging to me.
Netta- 10 yr. old grey QH mare belonging to Hubs, but being ridden by Firstpup.
Zephyr- Netta's son- coming 2 yr. old belonging to Firstpup.

Awe, Oprah is such a good mommy! :)

Your cats are just beautiful, MSD! For outside kitties, they look very well cared for. Do you brush them at all? It looks like it, their fur is beautiful!

Nice house, and beautiful scenery too!

Thanks Geri!

We rarely ever need to brush the cats- the flame point could use it right now, but he isn't matted at all. They have the type of coats that don't mat easily. An occasional little mat behind an ear or in the ruff is all I ever find. In the summer they shed out all of the undercoat, so they are much more sleek but still long haired.

I'm pretty proud of my line of "Barn Cats Extraordinaire", so thanks for the compliments! :D

You're welcome! They are really beautiful! I absolutely adore kitties, especially long haired kitties. I have a big long haired black and white kitty that is around 15 lbs, and I swear is part dog. He has such a different coat than my other long haired black and white. The female has a much more fine, long, and silky hair, while the big male has a very thick, poofy, yet really soft fur, and a very thick undercoat like yours. He very rarely gets matted either, and I don't brush him alot either, as often as I should. His tail is unbelievably fluffy too. I really do love long haired cats, they are so regal looking. :)
