Has anybody found any good uses for coconut oil with rabbits? I use it for myself all the time and would love to know if there are any benefits for the buns.
:bunnyhop:

Dunno about coconut but I've used other oils for weight gain, milk production, and better coat quality. I just roll the pellets in a small amount so they are coated but not enough to make them mushy.

I give my rabbits small hunks of coconut when I have extra so I assume it's safe. Maybe just s drop with pellets like akane said.

akane, what types of oils do you use? I've considered doing that every now and again since some oils seem to be very good for certain animals.

I generally use a horse coat supplement that is soy, flax, and sunflower oils with added b vitamins. If you don't like using soy you can get just flax in large bottles in the health food aisle of a grocery store here and they have just sunflower in the baking section with the other vegetable oils. I know a lot of people use canola oil for horses and rabbits because it's cheaper but still a named oil instead of mysterious "vegetable oil" with no ingredients label.

Coconut Oil and Carnuaba Wax are the ingredients in high end car waxes. If you show your rabbits you can transport them in a shiny vehicle that is a benefit right ?

Coconut oil is GREAT. One of my does got a bite and we put coconut oil on it. It healed without any infection; heck, I probably won't be able to find the site of the bite anymore! :) Plus, it is okay for them to lick it off, so you don't have to worry about digestive issues. It's also good for skin; I have a friend who had pretty extreme eczema on her scalp. Her parents massaged coconut oil into her hair and it cleared!
