update-on-necropsy-cocci-problems-t11996.html

Here is a link to previous converstations about my horrid problems with coccidia, including at home necropsy pics and my ACTUAL necropsy report. I *know* it's cocci. It causes dysbiosis and allows Clostridium and E. coli to grow, which causes my mucoid enteritis (bloat, mucoid poo) symptoms. And according to the differences in virulence of subspecies of cocci, I'm pretty sure I'm lucky enough to have one of the two more virulent forms. I've since stopped the issues in my bunny barn with pre-weaned kits, but it still strikes my growout pens. I've stopped all sales for a long time now and to be honest, I'm getting sick of raising dead rabbits. Rabbits used to be profitable and fun here.

Unrelated - here is an amazing rabbit raising resource. If you go to the pathology section, you can learn more than you could have ever wished about coccidia, and it's a great book to learn about it. And, you can download the PDF for free. http://www.fao.org/docrep/t1690e/t1690e00.htm#Contents

Anywho, we ordered new cage wire and purchased a new barn- all wire hanging cages are in my near future but Klubertanz is taking FOREVER with shipping our equipment... of course.

I didn't breed the does this time 'round because I plan on treating the heck out of the does and moving them to their new clean cages. I'm thinking a 5 day bout of baycox. Yes I know that's a lot. But you haven't seen how this decimates and continues to cause severe problems for me MONTHS AND MONTHS after routine cage cleanings, culling, and very few if any sales. I'm about sick of it. Once a pen gets it, I can't sell anything because chances are it'll bloat up and die afters sale. My only other option is to kill everything and just quit. It's been close a few times with my level of frustration.

On to my questions:

1. What is the dose for treatment IN WATER for neomycin sulfate solution? It is the livestock solution, 200mg/ml, equivalent to 140mg/ml. Bottle says 1oz per 591.5lbs. Not terribly helpful. :) A dose of mls per gallon of water is what I"m looking for. :D

2. What is the dose for treatment IN WATER with a 12.5% sulfadimethoxine (albon, dimethox)? It's a liquid solution, mls per gallon of water dilution rate is what I'm after.

I cannot use baycox on the growout pen because they are meat rabbits and baycox has a 70 day meat withdrawal. I butcher at 10 weeks of age and wean at about 6-7wks.

Thanks!

Can't help you with that drug, I used Sulmet. Apparently, you can't easily over dose that..
