So I bred my Champagne once before I had to put him down for blowing snot :(

I bred him to our mutt doe, Nella.

Well we are scratching our heads with what cropped up. All we knew is that she was vienna marked and able to throw just about any color depending who she was paired with.... however I didn't know I'd get chestnuts and black with silvering!

Isn't the silvering gene recessive? And what's up with some of their fur? It seems not quite rex or regular, but could be just baby fluff, just not what I'm used to with my Mini Lops. They are SO SOFT.

This is out of curiosity for the most part. Nella has been around for 3 years and seemed like an adult when we got her...I want to say she's probably around 3 1/2-4 1/2 years old. She's producing nice size litters still so we just keep her bred for the most part and the babies go to FC

There are 3 silvering genes and they are partial dominant. The champagnes (and other argents) have 2 copies of the strongest gene which is why they turn completely silver. 1 copy of the gene gets you about 1/3rd to 1/4th as much silvering.
